In May 1975, the PT magazine lecture series came to Cambridge. On that Sunday afternoon the main speaker was Jack Martin, supported by Tony Goudie. The meeting at the University Arms Hotel was well attended with many eager to learn about who was behind the magazine, and hear the prospect of the future of Britain from a Bible perspective. There were subsequently ten follow-up meetings conducted by David Gunn. At the end of the series and because of the interest and enthusiasm perhaps twenty people continued to meet on a fortnightly basis as a Bible Study led primarily by David Gunn, assisted by John Meakin with occasional visiting speakers. In 1979 under the guidance of Edward Smith, we became officially a congregation of the WCG, and moved to our present location in the village of Comberton, just west of Cambridge. Our Deacon and Deaconess were Harold and Lucy Peacock. Over the years our numbers grew to about 120 including many from the Peterborough area. Through the 1980s our pastors seemed to change with the seasons: Barry Bourne, David Bedford, David Stirk, and Harry Sullivan. In November 1993 under Tony Goudie and after many years of requesting the opportunity for them to meet locally, members from Peterborough began holding services in their own area from which the Ramsey Congregation later developed. Although in common with many congregations our numbers have declined, we continue to meet each weekend, now reuniting with our friends from Peterborough on the first and last Saturday of each month Bill Lee
