The Brighton Church first met in May 1975, with members who had previously attended at Godalming and Maidstone, together with some who had attended the Campaigns which were held early in 1975 in Brighton. We eventually had to leave the Town Hall when regular attendance was around 90. We used a number of venues in Brighton until we moved to our present venue in Lewes, nearly 20 years ago. The church has been pastored by Arthur Suckling, Michael Bousfield, David House, John Meakin, David Magowan and now Ken Buck. The largest attendance ever was the week after the Feast in Brighton in 1980 when we had 160. One of the earliest members was Mrs Carnes, who had been baptised by her father in the 1920’s in South London – a baptism that Mr Armstrong had recognised as part of the Sardis Church. Peter Stanley |
